FORMS: Liquid

PACKAGE SIZE:
15 ml bottle

Note:
This remedy is particularly useful in the treatment of chronic sinusitis associated with viral infections and in getting foreign bodies to discharge from the nasal passage. Dose can be as frequent as every 15 minutes if condition is acute.

DOSE:
The recommended dose of the complex used for chronic sinusitis in dogs is 10 drops twice to three times daily initially and can be combined with Trauma Complex (Acute), Cough Complex (Sub Acute) or Arthritis Complex (Very Chronic Sinusitis). The frequency can be reduced once symptoms have improved and continue to maintain improvement (reducing dosage too early can result in a reoccurrence). Doses can be as low as once daily. In cats the dose can be as low as 2 drops three times daily. Due to the alcohol content some cats can salivate excessively following treatment- this can be overcome by adding the drops to a small amount of the patient’s food, water or milk In all cases the food or liquid should be left 10 to 20 minutes for the alcohol to dilute or evaporate. In cats the drops are best placed in the back of the oral cavity. In dogs the drops can be placed anywhere on the oral cavity. Some dogs will shake their head for a couple of moments after the first administration, but the occasional dog may object to the second administration in which case the same methods as for cats work.
In pregnant animals caution would be advised as only homeopathics above 3cc are regarded as totally safe.
Concurrent use of conventional therapies such as Antibiotics, Nasal Drops, Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDs), Steroid Anti-Inflammatories have not to date shown any adverse reactions but in many cases seen for homeopathic treatment will already have been used to their maximum benefit In some very chronic cases a combination approach can be taken with a much lower dose of conventional therapies being achieved, this is particularly useful in patients where high doses of conventional therapy are the only way to control the sinus condition, but have to be used at levels causing side effects.

ADMINISTRATION:
Optimally the liquid preparation should be dropped directly into the mucous membrane of the mouth including lips; ideally in dogs by pulling out the labial pouch and in cats by raising the head until the mouth opens. Where an animal finds this distressful or an owner is unable to comply, the medication can be put in the food, water or milk. Where animals are sensitive to the odor of the alcohol preservative a 10-20 minute period should be allowed for it to dilute and evaporate before the liquid or food is presented to the patient. Occasionally animals will shake their head as a response to the alcohol preservative, cats may salivate excessively and in these cases presenting it in food, water or milk words.

ADVERSE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS:
None known other than reversible effect of over dosage. Over dosage will result in a return of symptoms after the symptoms have initially disappeared. Where either an increase or a return of symptoms occurs while on the medication then ceasing to use will alleviate the effect. Patients who are hypersensitive to homeopathic preparations can possibly show response to a single dose which may not need to be repeated for some time. For this reason, therapy for these pets should always start with a single dose the previous day and should a major response be seen therapy should not be recom_menced until symptoms relapse and then only a single dose given for maximum effect. Although no evidence exists to the contrary, care should be taken with it's use in pregnant animals as low potency homeopathics are historically not regarded as totally safe in pregnancy, despite their lack of chemicals. Should a suspected adverse reaction be seen or you want advice please contact HomeoPet LLC at toll free number: 800-555-4461 , tel: 631-288-6883, fax: 631-288-6711. E-mail info@homeopet.com. DRUG INTERACTIONS:
None known for animal use; keep out of reach of children.

PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTIONS:
Store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, away from powerful magnetic fields and strong odors.

USER SAFETY:
No adverse effects have been recorded. There have been reports to the company of beneficial rather than adverse effects. As homeopathics are active in humans care is advised when handling product, although a long history of homeopathics used in humans shows a very high safety margin.

ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT:
To date none found.

VETERINARY NOTES ON INDICATIONS FOR USE OF SINISITUS COMPLEX

  • 1. Sinusitis: This remedy’s action is on the sinuses and nasal passages It is indicated in chronic sinusitis post “feline upper respiratory infections,” “chronic feline upper respiratory infection syndrome” where it would be combined with Homeopet’s Trauma Remedy” (“Cough Remedy” for more sub acute infections).
  • 2. Sneezing: Many cats will respond to this remedy alone. Others will require the alternation of this remedy with Homeopet's “Arthritis Remedy” or Trauma Remedy.”
  • 3. NasalBlockage: This can sometimes be caused by foreign bodies such as grass and this remedy can cause copious discharges which brings out the foreign material. This can take up to three weeks.
  • 4. Chronic Feline Upper Respiratory Infections: This remedy can produce dramatic results in these cases, but initially many patients appear to deteriorate as an increase in nasal discharge occurs This can be avoided in part by combining this complex with Homeopet’s “Arthritis Remedy.”
