INDICATIONS: The synergistic effect between thehomeopathics in this complex makes this remedy suitable for a wide range of traumatic injuries, cuts for grazes, bite wounds, injuries of tissues such as sprains and bruising. In an emergency it can be used for first aid.

FORMS:
Liquid

PACKAGE SIZE:
15 ml bottle

DOSE:
In acute cases once every 2 minutes especially if gums pale, otherwise one to three doses of ten drops per day.

VETERINARY NOTES ON DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

The recommended dose of this Trauma Remedy is 10 drops initially with the next dose being given based on an assessment of the change in the animals condition as measured by its vital responses, color of mucous membranes, respiration rate temperature, pulse, heart rate and demeanor. The frequency can be gradually reduced once symptoms have improved and continue to maintain improvement (reducing dosage too early can result in a reoccurrence of symptoms). Due to the alcohol content some cats can salivate excessively this can be overcome by adding the drops to a small amount of the patient’s food, water or milk. In all cases the food or liquid should be left 10 to 20 minutes for the alcohol to dilute or evaporate. In cats the drops are best placed in the back of the oral cavity. In dogs the drops can be placed anywhere on the oral cavity. Some dogs will shake their head for a couple of moments after the first administration, but the occasional dog may object to the second administration in which case the same methods as for cats work.
In pregnant animals caution would be advised as only homeopathics above 30c are regarded as totally safe. Concurrent use of conventional therapies such as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDs), Steroid Anti-Inflammatories or Analgesics have not todate shown any adverse reactions

ADMINISTRATION:
Optimally the liquid preparation should be dropped directly into the mucous membrane of the mouth including lips; ideally in dogs by pulling on the labial pouch and in cats by raising the head until the mouth opens. Where an animal finds this distressful or an owner is unable to comply, the medication can be put in the food, water or milk. Where animals are sensitive to the odor of the alcohol preservative a 10 to 20 minute period should be allowed for it to dilute and evaporate before the liquid or food is presented to the patient. Occasionally animals will shake their head as a response to the alcohol preservative; cats may salivate excessively and in these cases presenting it in food, water or milk works.

VETERINARY NOTES ON INDICATIONS FOR TRAUMA COMPLEX
  • I. Trauma: (Cuts, Grazes, Shock, Auto Accident, Bruising, Eye injury with bleeding into eye). This complex is indicated in virtually all forms of trauma or acute conditions and can be used to complement any of the other homeopathics in the Homeopet range. This complex should be used at the earliest moment in the onset of any traumatic illness. Dose should be based on response, and if no improvement is seen it should be repeated as often as every 2 minutes in cases of very acute and severe traumatic shock A reddening of the mucous membrane of the gum where it is given should be seen as indicating a reaction to it Where bone injury is suspected it can be alternated with Homeopets ‘Arthritis Complex.” It is a first aid homeopathic as an immediate therapy to Road Traffic Accident Case and can be combined with conventional therapy.
  • 2. Acute Sprain: Its action is to promote healing, reduce shock pain, swelling and bruising thus leading to a rapid response in acute sprains (eg tail or limb sprain) especially where the extremity hangs limp and can result in rapid alleviation of symptoms Once again Homeopet’s ‘Arthritis Complex” can be used to complement this as time progresses after a sprain occurs It is also indicated for injuries to the back and neck
  • 3. Fever (High Temperature): Where an animal has a high fever this complex can aid in its reduction
  • 4. Bone Fracture: This complex can be very useful in reducing bruising around a fracture site leading to easier surgical repair of a fracture with a cleaner surgical field It can be used pre and post-op with no apparent interactions. A dose should be given twice a day pre- and post-op.
  • 5. Extractions: This complex is beneficial when used pre- and post-op in extraction’s reducing post operative bruising pain and improving healing time. In dental surgery it can be applied to the area which is bleeding, but the depth of anesthesia should be watched as its application can cause lightening of anesthesia
  • 6. Post Anesthesia: In many patients a dose post-surgery will improve the patient’s recovery time both in terms of coming around and healing If given on the tongue at the end of surgical anesthesia it will be noted to cause an improved capillary refill time, especially at the site of application
  • 7. Bite Wounds: It is useful where an animal has open bite wounds
  • 8. Shock: Due to its antipyretic, anti-shock and antisepsis properties, can be used in combination with the “Gastroenteritis Complex” for parvovirus cases.
  • 9. Bleeding: As an adjunct to homeostasis (i.e. some method of reducing blood flow, this remedy works in the area of reducing shock
  • 10. Cystitis: It can be used for acute cystitis.
  • 11. Pruritus (Itching): It has application in acute but mild skin irritations
  • 12. Teething: This complex can be used for alleviation of teething pains in young animals

ADVERSE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS: None known other than reversible effect of over dosage. Over dosage will result in a return of symptoms after the symptoms have initially disappeared. Where either an increase or a return of symptoms occurs while on the medication then ceasing to use will alleviate the effect. Patients who are hypersensitive to homeopathic preparations can possibly show response to a single dose which may not need to be repeated for some time. For this reason, therapy for these pets should always start with a single dose the previous day and should a major response be seen therapy should not be recommenced until symptoms relapse and then only a single dose given for maximum effect. Although no evidence exists to the contrary, care should be taken with it's use in pregnant animals as low potency homeopathics are historically not regarded as totally safe in pregnancy, despite their lack of chemicals.
